Practice Makes Permanent

In this section, we’ll help you write out your commitment to practicing the exercises in this chapter. Regular practice will help you live daily life with both acceptance toward and detachment from whatever is going on, both inside you and in the outside world. It just takes a commitment to practice these exercises on a regular schedule. Most of them can be done while you’re in the flow of your daily routine, but a few do require you set aside time to be alone with your mind. Take a moment to plan your practice by considering the following questions and writing your responses in your journal:

What brain training practices or exercises do you plan to use?

When will you practice? Be specific: note the date and time of day for planned practices.

Who will be your ally in practice, and what type of support will you request?

How will you celebrate your first week of practice?
